Sauvie Island: Turkey Vulture
This Turkey Vulture, The Raven and the Peregrine Falcon are from the Audubon Society Portland Wildlife Care Center. Since those birds can't be released due to injury or human imprint they are used for education purposes. If you live in or visit Portland, you ought to visit the center where you will see more of these birds and allow time to hike their Wildlife Sanctuary 4.5 miles trail. Next upload will feature the Peregrine Falcon... the fastest animal in the world! BTW - I love the shot of the Vulture in front of the garbage and think this guy is cute... thereby the 3 photos!!!

Sauvie Island Trip: Raven

Bird Watching on Sauvie Island, OR
The Portland Audubon Society organized a Raptor Road Trip on Sauvie Island. Took Saturday off to go on this adventure. Saw 2 beautiful Bald Eagles, countless Hawks and a huge number of cranes and Geese flights. Unfortunately the hand held camera was not able to capture sharply the birds in flight or the raptors that were in trees far away. But, I did get some interesting shots that will be added along the next few days. If you like Ravens... keep an eye out for upcoming photos of a very special fellow!

Meet Niki
Meet Niki in her safe spot... the newest addition to our family. She's recovering from being spayed, micro-chipped, vaccinated, you name it.. she got it! It's a big change for her since she's a feral cat. She loves being petted and cuddled in the arms and is slowly learning that "the" hand is not threatening and not to be scratched nor bitten.. I had been feeding her for several months and snow sealed the deal... she ventured few feet inside and the rest is history! She's called Niki for St Nick as she officially joined the household on Dec 27th... timing could not have been better since she turned out to be in heat one week later!
